Nigel Conway

Programme Lead (Acute and Emergency Care)

Nigel qualified in Northampton in 1988 as an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) and initially worked clinically in the Oxford area. He went on to work clinically in the Midlands, London and South Coastal areas. Nigel was involved in establishing the professional body Diploma in Higher Education curriculum and the move of the ODP profession into higher education. Alongside this he worked with the College of Operating Department Practitioners and other ODP colleagues to establish Operating Department Practitioners as the 13th profession within the Health Professions Council.

Nigel is currently Programme Leader for the Diploma in Higher Education: Operating Department Practice (ODP), Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) and the Community Up Skills Proagramme (CUSP) . Nigel remains involved in a range of professional and registrative body issues and the many other service and educational developments that continue to evolve.

Supervises BSc (hons) dissertations for post-qualifications student undertaking the BSc (hons) Student Designed Award and BSc (hons) students, collaborative provision (Hong Kong).

Supervises MSc dissertations for post-qualification students undertaking MSc studies both in the UK and Hong Kong.    


Teaches Mastering Professional Practice module in Hong Kong.
